Hendrik Esch is currently serving as the ad interim head of Decision Science within the enabling Digital Transformation & IT Pharmaceuticals organization. He is thus responsible for transformation data science and ai solutions into full-fledged digital products for the entire value chain of Bayer Pharmaceuticals. The organization is globally covering advanced analytics methods ranging from machine learning engineering through operations research up to computer vision, sound processing and generative AI models to generate sustainable value up to production embedded into a heterogeneous IT system landscape.
Additionally, Hendrik leads advanced analytics, simulation, and optimization products as part of Decision Science, with a specific focus on building digital products that leverage structured data available throughout the enterprise.
Prior to assuming his current role, Hendrik served as a hands-on Data Scientist in various seniority levels across different functional areas within Bayer. He holds a PhD and diploma in physics, utilizing data generated from particle accelerators at CERN in Geneva. Combining years of practical expertise in data science with a passion for talent development, Hendrik leverages technology to contribute towards making the world a better place, aligning with Bayer's vision of "Health for all, Hunger for None."
